Web Application Development for the United Arab Emirates

Web Application Development, built around how the United Arab Emirates works

Many UAE companies run on a mix of a corporate website, spreadsheets and an ERP that staff work around. A web application closes that gap: a tenant portal for a property manager, a quote and booking system for a logistics firm in Jebel Ali, a partner dashboard for a tour operator or an approval workflow for a contractor. Nexzem builds these remotely from Dehradun, India, with a working day that overlaps almost entirely with yours.

UAE web apps have to serve two audiences at once: Arabic-first users who expect a native right-to-left experience and a large English-speaking workforce from dozens of countries. That affects routing, layout, search and content management, so we design for both from the first sprint rather than adding a translation layer at the end. We usually build on Next.js or React with a Node.js or Python backend.

Bilingual front ends that stay maintainable

We set the dir and lang attributes per locale, use CSS logical properties (margin-inline-start instead of margin-left) and Tailwind's rtl variants, so one component works in both directions. Locale-based routes such as /ar and /en, with hreflang tags for ar-AE and en-AE, keep each language indexable for search engines.

Search and sorting need Arabic-aware handling. We normalize alef and hamza variants, ignore diacritics in queries and sort with Intl.Collator, so a user searching for a name finds it whichever way it was typed.

Sign-in, documents and enterprise integrations

Portals that serve residents or regulated customers often offer UAE Pass sign-in through a standard OpenID Connect redirect, alongside email or phone login for everyone else. We only store identity details such as Emirates ID numbers when the service genuinely needs them, and mask them in logs and admin screens.

Behind the screens, UAE web apps usually connect to SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Odoo, to payment gateways, and to the WhatsApp Business API for notifications, since many customers prefer updates on WhatsApp to email.

  • UAE Pass and Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on
  • ERP and CRM sync through APIs or scheduled jobs
  • Bilingual PDF generation for quotes, contracts and receipts
  • WhatsApp and SMS notifications with opt-in tracking

Hosting and data residency

AWS, Microsoft Azure and Oracle operate cloud regions in the UAE. For health, government and many enterprise portals we deploy the database and file storage there, with a content delivery network in front for speed. Products with fewer restrictions can use other regions if transfers meet the PDPL, or the DIFC or ADGM rules for free zone companies. This is general information, not legal advice.

Live chat, notifications, collaborative editing and live tracking built on WebSockets, so users see changes the moment they happen.

  7. 07

    Legacy App Modernisation

Move an ageing PHP, .NET or Java application to a modern stack in stages, keeping the business running while each module is replaced.

How a project runs

Clear stages with a review at the end of each, so you always know what happens next and what it costs.

  1. 01

    Discovery Workshop

We map users, roles, workflows and integrations, then turn them into a prioritised backlog and fixed quote.

  2. 02

    Architecture and UX

The data model, API design and clickable prototypes are agreed before sprint one begins.

  3. 03

    Iterative Build

Two-week sprints deliver working features to staging, with code review and automated tests on each change.

  4. 04

    Security and Load Testing

We test permissions, common vulnerabilities and performance under expected traffic before release.

  5. 05

Web Application Development in UAE, answered

Something else on your mind? Ask a consultant and get a reply within one business day.

Can one web app serve both Arabic and English users well?

Yes, if it is built for both from the start. With logical CSS properties, locale-aware routing and a content model that stores both languages side by side, one codebase serves both audiences. Retrofitting Arabic into a left-to-right app later usually means touching every screen, which is slower and more expensive.

Can our portal be hosted inside the UAE?

Yes. We deploy to UAE regions on AWS, Azure or Oracle when your sector or customers require it, and keep backups and logs in the same region. Some managed services are not available in every region, so we confirm availability for the services your app needs during architecture planning.

Do you build progressive web apps for UAE businesses?

Yes. A progressive web app suits field staff, drivers and partners who need app-like access without an app store install. It can work offline for short periods and send push notifications. For customer-facing products, a native or cross-platform app is often still the better first choice.
